In the third quarter of 2024, the social app landscape in Malta saw interesting trends across the top five Android applications. According to Sensor Tower data, each app displayed unique patterns in weekly downloads and revenue, reflecting their varying levels of user engagement and monetization strategies.

TikTok from TikTok Pte. Ltd. experienced a notable increase in weekly revenue, starting around $6.4K at the beginning of July and reaching approximately $7.2K by the end of September. Downloads, however, showed a declining trend, beginning at 1.4K in early July and decreasing to about 788 by the end of the quarter.

Threads, developed by Instagram, maintained a steady download rate throughout the quarter. The app started with 569 downloads in the first week of July, peaking at 882 downloads in mid-August, and closing the quarter with 816 downloads.

Instagram also showed a stable download rate, with figures ranging from 445 to 633 downloads per week. Revenue for Instagram presented a moderate fluctuation, starting at $188 and seeing a peak of $275 in the week of September 23.

Facebook from Meta Platforms, Inc. displayed consistent download numbers, ranging between 165 and 264 throughout Q3. Revenue saw significant fluctuations, with a notable peak of $409 in early August before settling around $173 by the end of September.

ShareChat Trends Videos & Live witnessed a surge in downloads mid-quarter, peaking at 317 in late August. Revenue for ShareChat remained minimal, with a small spike to $12 in late August before returning to lower levels.
